Updated Nursery

The nursery before:

The nursery now!

Still needing to put up some pictures!

We are finally done! The nursery has been transformed!

The old has gone, yellow, and the new is painted on, green! I am starting to get scared that green and blue are the only colors I like on my walls. Those seem to be our colors, minus the random purple room which is my craft room.

Oh well. I love this new color, I like how it just freshens up the room, and I think that it will suit a new baby (he OR she) eventually (and no we aren't pregnant!). I thought this one through and said to myself, enough with the painting while pregnant. Paint while your husband will still let you! So that is what we did. And I say we because I must credit my dear husband with helping me. I cut in, he rolls, works out wonderfully. He even didn't start to cry when last night I said to him, now I am not so sure that I love this green? Sorry Kelly. I do love it and I think all I needed to do was fill the room up! But if not it is only on the bottom half...right?

PS: Anybody need some help with painting their house? I am in the painting mood. I work for cheap all I ask is that I have some company and a good paint brush.

Functional Craft

Sometimes crafts that I do are just to make my house look cute. Sometimes they are for a more functional purpose.

Today I made one of the later; a small speech/word board for Noah! He has flash cards that we work on each day and they were all becoming a bit overwhelming for him, so now we only do one or two a day. Which gave me the idea to have them up some where that Noah could grab them and it would also serve as a visual reminder for us to practice, practice, practice!

Such a simple frame but I am hoping he will love to use it!

All it is: a frame from Walmart, some scrapbook paper, and two clothes pins.

More of Luke's Birthday

This was done by my very patient while crafting Mother. This would have driven me nuts!

Another look at the banner.
I made a ton of these little animals; they looked cute in the wreath and trees (Christmas trees come in handy through out the year! Thanks for that tip Heather).
The happy older brother. Love my boys in ties. Even though I get teased for it.

Love the finger. Happy first Birthday Lukey!

It was a HOOT!

Well the day came, and went, and I must admit it was pretty much stress free. I was able to work on L.'s party all through the week so in the end nothing felt rushed, undone, or ill prepared. So unlike me but definitely how I will try to do things from now on!

Okay enough about me. Onto the party!

Very proud to have gotten all the photo's in the frame before his birthday! All year it has sat with only one picture in it!
Fantastic owl cupcakes made by the men in our family. Kelly made the cupcakes and icing, from scratch, and my Dad decorated them. Cute job!

The birthday boy himself. Wearing his "I'm a Hoot" shirt. I did have two outfits picked out...luckily he got wet and then had to wear both.
Sweet boy. Fun day! I will post more pictures.

Luke's Birthday

I am in the midst of planning and crafting for Luke's 1st Birthday!

This has been the inspiration to the theme.

(This is all done by an etsy seller, Kelly Medina, she is super talented!!)

So cute, so fun, and since I have dubbed Luke as our little raccoon it seemed to fit. (Why a raccoon? Because he, like raccoons, love picking up and through our garbage, may not seem like a cute sentiment but if fits!!)

More to come!

A craft gone wrong...

I had great aspirations to make an advent calendar this year. I wanted to create one that was original, and functional, since it would house Bible verses (and eventually candy).

So I came to the conclusion that instead of spending any money I would use things from around the house. Which actually worked out, the metal tins that my Dad gave me one Christmas (yes that was a random gift especially since he gave me over 25 of them) long, long ago are now being put to good use! I had all the paper, glitter, and glue. I also had just finished spray painting a goodwill frame red, and painted a sheet of metal with chalkboard paint to fit inside the frame.

Sounds like fun eh? It was, for one, full, day. Then it got knocked down by two busy boys and my advent was smashed to pieces. Tins, paper, numbers, and frame were everywhere. Thankfully my boys were okay since it fell over top of them (and thankfully my husband was there to remind me of that). But much to my dismay the frame was unable to be repaired, so my tins laid in a huge pile for the rest of the advent days. Try as I might I couldn't get myself to gather it all together again and repair it.

In the end, it was okay. The true reason why I did it (and side note here, I had a great lesson in pride along the way) was that I wanted to remind the boys each day why we celebrate Christmas. And the fact that every day that we were counting down to the 25th was pointing to Christ and the cross. Whether that reminder was housed in a cool advent calendar or not.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your family, celebrating Christ's birth and sacrifice.

Here's a sad picture of the calendar:

But for sure I will try again next year.

My to do list

Is really quite funny. I have things on it like, paint the nursery, make an owl shaped pillow, stitch our names on our Christmas stockings. And none of these wonderful tasks, ever, get done. Each year I pull out those stockings with no names on them. And fall is long gone, so no owl pillow this year. And the nursery, well my second child who is now 11 months old, resides in there. So really that won't get done anytime soon because the only time I have to paint is at night or during nap time. Yep good to do list. Sigh.

But even though I have a crazy, never going to get done, type list. I also have a very different to do list that actual get's done every day. And that is to love two super fun, super cute, super crazy boys and my wonderful hubby. That, thankfully, get's done every day. And for someone like myself who craves completed tasks I think that is a great, permanent, to do list that I can keep up with.

Phew.
